The Brave Tin Soldier and the Paper Ballerina: Once, there was a little boy who lived in a cozy house at the end of a leafy street. It was a very happy home. On the boy’s birthday, there were colorful balloons, a beautiful cake, and many presents wrapped in bright paper.

The boy was excited as he opened his gifts. When he opened the first one, his eyes sparkled with joy.

“Tin soldiers!” he exclaimed. “Thank you, Mom and Dad. I love them!”

He lined the soldiers up on his playroom floor. But when he reached the last soldier, he noticed something different.

“Oh!” he said. “This soldier has only one leg.”

The soldiers were made from old tin spoons, and there wasn’t enough metal to finish the last one. But even with one leg, the tin soldier stood tall and steady.

“This one must go on parade too,” decided the boy. “He is just as brave as the others.”

The boy spent the rest of his birthday playing with his new toys. In his playroom, there was a big wooden castle. As the boy brought the one-legged soldier to the castle, something caught the soldier’s eye. There, in the doorway, was a beautiful paper doll ballerina. She stood on one leg, with her other leg stretched out behind her.

“She stands on one leg, just like me,” thought the soldier. “She would make a wonderful wife!”

Soon, the boy went to bed, leaving the playroom quiet. The tin soldier hid behind a box on the windowsill and gazed at the ballerina all night. The ballerina stood still in her castle, and the soldier and the dancer stared at each other, not turning away for a moment.

The next morning, a maid came in to clean the room. As she opened the window, she accidentally knocked the tin soldier off the ledge. Down, down, down he fell, landing in a drain on the street below.

“Stand tall, soldier! Face your fate bravely!” he told himself as he was washed through dark pipes and into a river.

As the tin soldier sank into the river, he thought of the beautiful ballerina to keep himself strong. But suddenly, everything went dark. The soldier had been swallowed by a big fish.

The fish twisted and turned in the water, but just when the soldier thought he would be crushed, the fish became still. Light suddenly filled the darkness as the fish was caught and cut open in a kitchen.

“Oh, look! Our lost soldier!” cried a voice.

By a stroke of luck, the soldier had returned to the little boy’s house. The cook washed him and gave him to the maid, who put him back in the boy’s playroom.

The soldier’s heart filled with joy. He was near his beloved ballerina once again.

But the next day, as the boy was playing, he accidentally knocked the tin soldier into the fire.

“No!” the boy cried, but it was too late. The tin soldier began to melt away.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew through the open window, lifting the ballerina off her feet. She twirled once and then fell into the flames beside the soldier. Together, they melted into the coals, their ashes mixing and bonding them forever.

Moral: True love is strong and never fades, even in the face of challenges.
